Originally from Spain, Andrea’s fiery interpretations of Spanish repertoire will take us on a journey through the Iberian Peninsula. Who better to kick off our celebration of women in classical guitar than the first woman in the world to be awarded a Doctor of Music in Guitar Performance? Dr. Lily Afshar holds this this claim to fame alongside her long list of equally as impressive accolades. Originally from Iran, her performance will feature Persian and Azerbaijani Ballads which are sure to delight.

SLCG Guitar Orchestra at University City Library
Join us for a special performance from our very own Community Guitar Orchestra at the University City Public Library! The program features works for guitar ensemble by Sor, Brahms, Vivaldi, Mozart, and more. There’s also special guest appearances from a guitar and trombone duet, and Gateway Guitar Quartet. This event is free and open to the public!

All-Metro Guitar Day
All-Metro Guitar Day is not only a celebration of our Guitar Horizons’ students’ accomplishments, but also an opportunity for children from across St. Louis to come together with a shared goal: to create beautiful music. This year’s festivities take place at Carr Lane VPA beginning at 2:00pm, and admission is free of charge. Please join us!

Join us on Sunday, April 7th for an afternoon Master Class with Irina Kulikova! Aspiring St. Louis guitarists will perform for and receive coaching from Irina in front of a live audience.

Irina Kulikova has been traveling the world performing concerts since the age of twelve. With the rare beauty of her tone and enchanting presence on stage, Irina captures the hearts of audiences across the globe. When describing her performance, Soundboard Magazine wrote, “Some of the most sheerly beautiful playing I have ever heard.” She is long past due an appearance in St. Louis, and her concert is sure to end the season with a bang!

Trio Virado
Trio Virado is a fresh new collaboration of three of the most distinguished artists on their instruments of flute, viola, and guitar. Amy Porter, Juan-Miguel Hernandez and João Luiz are artists widely sought after for their musical performances on recordings and the concert stage.Joining together, they form a concert trio experience with emotion and love of music that radiates electricity.
