Statement of Solidarity
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
St. Louis Classical Guitar believes that Black Lives Matter, and we stand in solidarity with protesters across the globe particularly today, on the 155th anniversary of emancipation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans.
For too long injustices have plagued black people in America. From unjust housing and economic policies to police brutality, it is time for systemic change. While the work we do is only a small piece of what needs to be done, we strive to find Diversity and Inclusion in all that we do.
Providing access to high quality music education in communities of color is not enough to right the wrong, but music can be a powerful tool for making voices heard and beginning social change. SLCG remains committed to creating those opportunities throughout St. Louis, and to creating a platform for the voices of those we work with to be heard.
